The lecture portion of the program will feature Dr. Carmen Foster who will discuss her first-hand experiences growing up in Richmond. Foster will weave threads of community and family into legacy narratives to deepen knowledge of black Richmond’s cultural and educational heritage. Her conversation will spotlight Hartshorn Memorial College and Alice Jackson Stuart, a proud Hartshorn graduate who was denied entry into UVA’s graduate school in 1935.Event Website
16th Annual Community Service Awards
Celebrate outstanding community volunteers on Thursday, May 3, with food, drinks, the Million Blooms exhibit, and a special awards ceremony. Proceeds benefit Commonwealth Catholic Charities. Midlothian Garden Club Meeting
The Midlothian Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 1 at 10:30 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, 1100 Huguenot Springs Road, Midlothian. The program–”Colorful Containers-Transform your Space in a Snap!”– will be presented by Beth Burrell of The Giving Tree Garden.
